It's been a long time since I've been to DA.  I had a major life upheaval a little over two years ago, and it put a stop to all my creative energies.  I have just recently gotten back to it, and finally finished up a small project I started a long time ago: the Jon Bon Jovi bookmark.  Now that I've gotten myself back into the swing of things, I need to try to get my daughter's cross stitch completed.  It's about half done, and my eyesight isn't what it was a couple years ago.  I've joked about going blind doing it, but I seriously need to get it done before I get to the point where I can't!  I have missed working on my projects and creating stuff, so hopefully my recent burst of stitch-mojo will carry me onward to finish my current project, and start some new ones that I have banging around in my mind.  Thanks to everyone for all the favorites and comments!

Okay, I've kinda gotten sidetracked.  I have taken a long break from my daughter's project (I really do hope I finish it before I die... or go blind... or arthritic... or something else awful.)  Anyway... I also finally got PCStitch working again on the laptop.  It's an older, simpler version of the one I had on the desktop, but it'll do in a pinch.  Anyway, I tried making a pattern for the Snape picture I was planning on doing, but I just couldn't get it to look right, so I'm abandoning that idea.
Instead, I signed on to do this "Pay it Forward" thing on facebook.  It's an agreement to make a handmade gift for the first 5 people who like your status.  The parameters are that it has to be hand made by you, and they have to received it at some point during this year.  So, since everyone I know loves my bookmarks, guess what everyone's going to receive?!?  I've just started the first one for my friend Kelli, who has an unnatural obsession with a certain rock star....

I just got my 10th Llama, making my llama a Super Llama!  Thanks to all who have llamaed me!  (That didn't quite sound right... ) :-/

Getting excited about my next project!!!  Yeah, I know... I'm not even half done with my current one.  But I've decided to take a break when I get halfway (after 2 more sections) and work on my next chosen project.

My computer died this past spring, and I lost PCStitch along with it.  I had never actually purchased the program in the first place... a friend of mine had loaded it onto my computer for me, and in the intervening years, she lost the install disk.  The new program is $50... which I was preparing to shell out once I'd finished my current project.  Luckily (more so for me than for her...) my friend had to move this past summer, and in packing up her entire apartment, we found the PCStitch install disk!  So... hesitantly... I am hopefully optimistic that this 13 year old laptop can handle the program so I can create the pattern for my next project.  I will be doing the Half Blood Prince, as depicted by N0rks, featured here: fav.me/d463hgy

I'm planning on doing it in 25 (or so) shades of gray on black cloth... 22 count if I can find it locally.

So... now here I go to try to install PCStitch on this laptop.  If you never hear from me again, it's because it didn't work, and I tragically expired in a horrible home accident involving archaic technology and stunted creativity.  Wish me luck!

I've been working diligently on my project.  I've nearly finished another section.  Then I'll only have 12 more sections to go.  *crying*

My partner is working on a Scrabble quilt.  It's going to be about 6' square when completed.  He's made the alphabet tiles and everything.  It's the fifth game board he's made.  He's done two Monopolys, a Clue board, and Sorry.  You can check out some of his things here:  willowrealm.deviantart.com/ if you're interested.  It's neat to watch him come up with the idea, work it out, and have it slowly come together.  (Though not as slowly as my x-stitch is coming... it just feels like it's taking for-EVER!)

School is back in session, which means a lot more free time during the day.  I've used all my free time lately to work on my stitching.  I hate being in silence, so I usually throw something on to watch while working.  In the last month, I've watched two seasons of Dead Like Me, a season of Will & Grace, a season of Family Guy, all of Spartacus, The Hunger Games a few times, and other various movies thrown in, too.  I think it's time to head back to the gym.

I am finally back to my stitching!  Working on my daughter's HUGE project.  I have managed to finish up the left edge of it, and am now working my way across the bottom.  I'll post a pic of my progress in a few days.  It was the Olympics that got me back into it... I love working on my stitching while watching the Olympics... I'm not really into sports, but loooove watching Olympic competition.  (Except for water polo... God, what a boring sport.)  Anyway... excited to be back into it!  I had become overwhelmed by the sheer size and capacity of this project and put it away for two years (I think the last time I stitched on it was during the winter Olympics two years ago.)  Leaving it in storage for two years didn't do it any good... I had left the clips on it that I use to hold the ends of the material together while I'm stitching, and one of them rusted on me.  The stain on the fabric is outside the stitching area, so I'm not losing sleep over it, but I'm determined this time not to put it away again until it's finished.  I'm doing it on 22 count, which is... now that I'm closing in on 40 years old... getting harder to see.  Also, I'm using 120 colors in the project, which is maddening.  I was very ambitious when creating the project.  It's coming out fantastic, though, and I'm very excited about it again.
